Drug Induced Insanity

We have a serious epidemic in our culture and society that is deadly to children and adults alike. It invades our pharmacy, health care systems, governments, homes and all other aspects of our society. We have become a society dependent on drugs to help us live normal lives.

Alcohol has a demonstrated and proven effect on ones mental state. It affects our sensory perceptions. Motor skills. It has the side effect of enhancing ones emotional state or altering our moods all together. It inhibits our ability to think clearly and make intelligent decisions. Its poisons our minds and body’s. Alcohol has the effect of inhibiting our natural inhibitions making us extremely susceptible to suggestion. The more we take the more we lose control of our selves. If that is true with what is a legal drug that requires no prescription and is available to anyone who may want it how much more dangerous is a drug that has been specifically designed to target our minds, moods, and mental functions?

There are so many dangerous and deadly side effects of these drugs that one wonders how they got approved in the first place. Some of the side effects include Drowsiness, impaired coordination, memory impairment, dry mouth,Nausea, diarrhea, sexual dysfunction, insomnia, fatigue, Dizziness, headache, nervousness, dysphoria, Drop in blood pressure when standing, sedation, urinary retention, blurred vision, weight gain, constipation, somnolence, sweating, fast heart rate, hypertension, (http://psychcentral.com/lib/common-side-effects-of-psychiatric-medications/000179). That does not seem so bad but what they are not telling you is that other side effects are hallucinations, paranoia, suicidal idealization, aggression, violence, mania, severe depression, lack of any emotional feelings at all, death, precocious puberty, tardive dyskinesia…. the list could really go on and on. I have only touched the tip of the iceberg with these side effects.

Could it be that the group that runs our drug approval agency (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) has ties to big pharma that is peddling these drugs in the first place. Given the rate at which these drugs are prescribed is it really that far fetched that these “doctors” at the head of our drug approval process stand to benefit from approving these drugs. The Tragic irony in all of this is that when children are force fed these drugs and begin to have these side effects that I have listed they are told that they need the drugs to manage the very problems they are causing and inevitably they are prescribed higher and higher doses, and more and more drugs to manage the problems that the drugs caused in the first place.

In the world of psychiatry there is a book called the diagnostic and statistical manual for diagnosing of mental illness. This manual is updated on average just over once every 10 years. Each addition gets larger and larger. This manual has a mental disorder that covers every conceivable behavior, thought or ideology that you can imagine. In other words it is almost 100%  guaranteed that you could be diagnoses with a mental illness and thus be eligible for a drug to “resolve” your mental illness. This book I was required to use as part of my university education in my Abnormal psychology and crime class. I can tell you that it is not a small book. Think of a behavior, or ideology and I guarantee you that there is a mental illness listed in this book somewhere that would fit your description.

Here in Alberta our health care services provide coverage for psychiatric help. Psychologist however are not covered under Alberta Health Services. What is the difference between the two. A Psychiatrist can prescribe drugs while a psychologist cannot. The only reason I believe that our “public” health care is set up this way is not because psychologist are not health care but because by not paying for a psychologist more people will go to a psychiatrist which means more people will get psychiatric drugs and thus big pharma and doctors stand to profit and people and children lose.

There is a pandemic of psychotropic drug prescription in our culture. These drugs that are prescribed at rates much higher than any other drug for any other issue. The rate of diagnosed mental illness says that at a minimum 20% of people will have a mental illness at some point in our lives. (http://www.cmha.ca/media/fast-facts-about-mental-illness/#.UtW_ALSnKRM)

In the last 20 years well over 90% of mass shootings and major crimes defined as crimes that get mass media attention have been committed by someone under the influence of these drugs. here are a few examples

Dismemberment in Montreal, June 2012 – luka magnotta

Shooting in Columbine High School, Littleton, Colorado, April 1999

Shooting at the Empire State building, New York, United States, August 2012:

Shootings at the screening of the movie The Dark Knight Rises, Aurora, Colorado, July 2012

Dekalb, Illinois – February 14, 2008: 27-year-old Steven Kazmierczak

Omaha, Nebraska – December 5, 2007: 19-year-old Robert Hawkins

Jokela, Finland – November 7, 2007: 18-year-old Finnish gunman Pekka-Eric Auvinen

On December 14, 2012, 20-year-old Adam Lanza Sandy Hook

Cleveland, Ohio – October 10, 2007: 14-year-old Asa Coon

Blacksburg, Virginia – April 16, 2007: 23-year-old Seung Hui Cho

I found these cases listed at (http://www.newmediawarrior.net/2012/09/the-danger-of-psychotropic-drugs/) however they are only a small sampling of the appalling crimes that have involved psychotropic drugs influencing the behavior of the ones responsible. I know from first hand experiences what these drugs can do to a person. I had felt the side effects because as a child I was drugged, While I never went on a mass shooting rampage it was only because I did not have access to guns or other weapons. I can tell you that I did day dream about it and how I would do so While I was being drugged.

Why you might ask would we spend so much time telling our kids to stay away from drugs like LSD, heroin, cocaine, meth while at the same time telling them to take drugs that have many of the same side effects.

Side effects of crystal meth included (http://drugabuse.com/library/the-effects-of-crystal-meth-use/)

  • Loss of appetite
  • Change in sleeping patterns
  • Severe mood swings
  • Unpredictable behavior

Side effects of LSD (http://www.drugfreeworld.org/drugfacts/lsd/the-harmful-effects-of-lsd.html)

  • Delusions

  • Impaired depth perception
  • Impaired time perception, distorted perception of the size and shape of objects, movements, color, sounds, touch and the user’s own body image
  • Severe, terrifying thoughts and feelings
  • Fear of losing control
  • Panic attacks
  • Flashbacks,
  • Severe depression or psychosis

I have never taken any of these drugs or any other illegal substance in my life yet while I was drugged up with psychiatric drugs I personally experienced almost all these same side effects while I was on the drugs I was prescribed at one time or another. To this day though I have not taken psychiatric drugs for 15 years I still suffer from some of these side effects today. That is a Terrifying thought and does nothing to comfort me.

Marvin J Ashton in the April 1971 general conference of the church spoke about drug abuse and asked this question “what causes a strong, lovely, vibrant young person to allow a chemical to control his behavior?” Its a good question that needs to be asked. Might we also ask at What causes a strong and loving parent to allow a chemical to control his or her child’s behavior? Yet that is exactly what is happening.  It is what our government is allowing to happen. Can you honestly see a difference between illegal and legal drugs. The only difference I see is that one a business profits the other a individual profits on the sale. In both cases the one taking the drugs loses. But in the case of legal drugs big pharma profits. The seller really does not care for your health and safety. High profile doctors and politicians receive perks for peddling the product. The only thing making mind altering drugs illegal has done is minimize if not eliminate drug company competition and lined the pockets of doctors, lawyers and politicians.  Sadly we have moved on from illegal to legal substance abuse. We prescribe drugs to resolve behavioral issues while at the same time telling kids to say no to drugs.

According to http://healthcareforamericanow.org/2013/04/08/pharma-711-billion-profits-price-gouging-seniors/ , Big pharma has made profits of 711 billion over the last 10 years. They did this buy selling you drugs that destroy you psyche create problems that they sell more drugs to resolve. They created a dependency on there product and have behaved in a manner no different that the street dealer. The mark up on drugs shows just how much these companies care nothing for health. some reports suggest that mark up in in the thousands of percent over cost.

Pharamakeia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pharmakeia) is a word from ancient greek that has been translated in the bible to the word sorcery, sorcerer and so forth. What does this mean for us? If we read the book of revelation and replace the words sorcery, sorcerer with pharmacist this is how it would read in

revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and aunbelieving, and the abominable, and bmurderers, and cwhoremongers, and pharmacists, and idolaters, and all eliars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the fsecond gdeath.

Revelation 22:15 For without are dogs, and pharmacist, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.

Revelation 18:23 And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy pharmacist were all nations deceived.

Dr Peter Breggin explains quite well I think what is going on in this industry. I quote from the article found here http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dr-peter-breggin/psychiatric-drugs_b_1693649.html. This is some of what he had to say

“Large numbers of other children are being put on highly dangerous adult anti psychotic drugs, antidepressants, and mood stabilizers, often to treat so-called “childhood bipolar disorder.” Psychiatrist Biederman’s work “helped to fuel a controversial 40-fold increase from 1994 to 2003 in the diagnosis of pediatric bipolar disorder … and a rapid rise in the use of anti psychotic medicines in children,” according to the New York Times. Bipolar disorder, like most other psychiatric diagnoses for children, is linked to the greater use of various psychiatric drugs. No surprise that this is so, since as in the case of Joseph Biederman, the “top” researchers in child psychiatry are heavily funded by pharmaceutical companies.

“ADHD, for example, is described and diagnosed by a collection of behaviors — inattention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity –The diagnosis literally shuts down the search for the real causes, undermines effective parenting and teaching approaches, and guarantees that the child will be medicated.

“As another example, oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) merely describes a child who displays anger. In the words of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition, ODD involves “A pattern of negativistic, hostile, and defiant behavior lasting at least six months.” The top three “symptoms” are “(1) often loses temper, (2) often argues with adults, and (3) often actively defies or refuses to comply with adults’ requests or rules.” That’s not a disease in a child, it’s a sign that something has gone haywire in the child’s life and is not being remedied.”

Despite all the evidence that these treatments and drugs are causing extreme harm to our children and family’s we continue to support this evil, unethical, and destructive practice that destroys family’s and harms people in ways that we can never recover from. I am living proof of that. I have experienced it. I have lived it. I am alive today only because I refused to allow the continued abuse and rape of my mind. I thank God that I had the presence of mind to end the abuse. I can attest that the withdraw symptoms are agonizing, and at times it was torture. I still to this day, 15 years later have to live with the damage that was done to me and is still being done to millions of other around North American today.

I thank God for my freedom from this tyranny of “medicine” and pray that Christ comes soon so that we may all be free from this evil. The cure for mental health problems is not drugs. Its love, compassion, patience and understanding.

  1. I am going to assume by the picture of a Mormon temple on your blog you are Mormon. One of the greatest things about being Mormon is continuing revaluation.

Last October Elder Jeffer R. Holland toke the stand and told members of the church with Major depessive disorder to get a priesthood blessing and see a doctor. And then be open to any solution he may perscribe.

I belive Elder Holland was speaking on behalf of God at that time. So my question is if God says anti depressants are good then why should I have a problem with them?

    • Thanks for your comments, for all readers of this blog i ask you to remember that as i stated on my about page “The views and opinions on this blog are solely those of the author and do not represent any official pronouncement of Doctrine of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter day saints, its affiliates or subsidiary or leadership of the church.”. My stance on this issue is taken from my own personal experience with the psychiatric community, i touched on it briefly on this post but have written in more detail here (https://gospelperspective.wordpress.com/2013/11/28/the-most-difficult-trial-of-my-faith/). looking over elder Hollands talk in more detail he does state “seek the advice of reputable people with certified training, professional skills, and good values. Be honest with them about your history and your struggles. Prayerfully and responsibly consider the counsel they give and the solutions they prescribe. “. no where in his talk does he state that we should accept the solutions but only that we should prayerfully consider the solutions they prescribe, in fact he does not mentions prescription drugs once during his talk at all. As for why should you have a problem with that, i believe i highlighted several reasons in this post concerning the dangers of these drugs, that should be enough for anyone to question if drugs are truly the right course of action for any mental health issue. you should have a problem with it because they are dangerous and cause more harm than good, i do not believe god would have us intentionally subject our selves to harmful drugs simply because a doctor prescribed them
